Eastern Iowa Arts Academy is consolidating its three buildings into one by relocating to the historic Arthur Elementary School on B Avenue NE. Built in 1914 and expanded in 1947, Arthur served as a K-5th grade school for thousands of children.

In November, we recognized that our current facilities were no longer meeting the needs of our students. Our classes were overcrowded, private lesson spaces were minimal, and rehearsal spaces were limited. It became clear that we needed a larger space to accommodate our kids. When we learned that Arthur Elementary would be available, we seized the opportunity to secure this incredible space for the future growth of our non-profit.

The transformation and stability of Eastern Iowa Arts Academy at Arthur School will happen in a three year process.

YEAR ONE

Relocation.

We focus on the promotion of the new facility and move completely into the first floor of the building. We begin the process of transforming the elementary school into a creative center for the arts. We spread the word to the community and to the state about what we do and reach out to even more underserved youth in the area.

YEAR TWO

Sustainability.

This year will be the year that we actively begin our sustainable branches of Eastern Iowa Arts Academy with the opening of the Artist Lofts, Maker’s Space, and the kitchen. The Artist Lofts will be affordable rental space for the community and bring local artists together. The Maker’s Space will be a wonderful place for creativity to thrive as well. The cafe will be a place for the neighborhood to enjoy as well as support for local entrepreneurs.

YEAR THREE

Stabilization and Enhancement.

Set long-term goals for the school's growth and development, ensuring it remains a leading institution for arts education.
